Meeting Minutes - September 2, 2025

1. Pat introduced one new member, Cathy.

2. There will be a new URL for the website, since we are now a nonprofit: southbayareamqg.org.   A redirect will be set up.

3. Retreat info: the dates for the 2026 retreats are Nov 5-8 , and Feb 12-15. 

4. Quilt Con community quilt news:  there will be a sew day to assemble the blocks on 9/16  at Gayne’s. The majority of the blocks are back and there have been some design changes. Sara has agreed to quilt it.

5. Napkin kits will be available for the November fundraiser. Jeannie demonstrated her mitered corners technique during the break. It will be posted on the website also.

6. There will be a sew day on 10/18 from 10:30 - 4:00.  It will be combined with the  PVQA sew day event “From Scraps to Show Stoppers”. Registration for the PVQA event is limited to 20.

7. There will also be a Sew day on 9/13.

8. Jan demonstrated a technique for making woven bowls, using craft tex.  She provided several templates for interested members.

9. Iris shared an article in the American Quilters Society magazine about the STEM quilt project.  The American Association of University Women will be auctioning off several STEM quilts at a fundraiser at the Hotel Paradox.

10. Housing matters update -  Pat, Gene and Desiree made a quilt for the upcoming fundraiser.

11. There will be a Housing matters Sew day on Thursday at Pat’s house.

12. Sew and tell:   Donna, Sara, Lori, Darlene, Meredith, Anna, Joan and Pat shared their fabulous quilts.
