Meeting Minutes - December 6, 2025

  • Pat introduced a guest: Maggie

  • Retreat update - 23 people have enrolled in the February retreat so far. There are still openings available.

  • Fundraiser and Treasurer's update - The fundraiser brought in $745.94 plus $94 in donations. Our bank balance is $16,000, and the retreat will cost $12,000. Lori provided a printed budget for members at the meeting.  There were items left over from the fundraiser for sale at the meeting during the break.

  • Summary of group discussions - Members requested that the guild provide more modern activities and more emphasis on modern quilting in general. Members would like more information on the MQG.  Other requests were for more sew days, more discussions such as Ask Shabby, carpools to local events, and modern challenges. There was a discussion regarding continuing the Block of the Every Other Month event. Some members were in favor of the blocks going to donation quilts, and one member suggested having a member win the blocks every other time. It was suggested that we use the blocks that Rene designed a few years ago or that we use blocks from the MQG website. Someone also suggested making a quilt from the MQG website. Pat mentioned that we will need volunteers for many of the suggested activities and there will be a sign up list at the January meeting.

  • Donation quilting - The guild just donated several quilts to Housing Matters. Housing Matters made several hundred dollars from the  raffle quilt that was donated by the guild. Pat is organizing the construction of another quilt for Housing Matters that will feature their donor’s names and house blocks.

  • Sew and Tell - Lori, Vivian, Darlene, Gene, Karen F, Laura, Ruth, Karen C , and Maggie shared their projects. Members were encouraged to hang their projects on the railing at the back of the room so others can get a closer look during the break. This came from a suggestion gathered at last month's meeting.

  • Holiday swap -  The following members exchanged either mug rugs or coasters. Laura gifted Pat, Pat gifted Susan Nilsson, Susan gifted Gayne, Gayne gifted Sara, Sara gifted Heidi, Heidi gifted Anna, Anna gifted Jan, Jan gifted Laura, Karen C. gifted Lori, Lori gifted Iris, Iris gifted Marnie, Marnie gifted Diane, Ruth gifted Karen C., Karen Foster gifted Dale,  Dale gifted Kathy Howard, Kathy gifted Karen Foster.

  • Year in review - Heidi presented a slide show that highlighted guild activities and thanked all the volunteers in 2025.

  • Announcements- Pat announced that Back Porch Fabrics is holding classes next year.

  • There will be an Ask Shabby at the next meeting. There is a new sewing shop in Pacific Grove that services Berninas.

  • MQG Community Quilt - The Quilt is currently being quilted by Sara Roche.

  • PVQA quilt show - Karen Foster is taking donations for the  PVQA raffle basket.  The theme is anything animal related. Donations are needed by our next meeting.
